Welcome to Congregation B’nai Israel situated in the heart of downtown St. Catharines.
Congregation B’nai Israel is the only Conservative egalitarian synagogue in St. Catharines and the Niagara Region.
We are a diverse Jewish community which respects the traditions of our people and embraces not just families with children, but retirees and seniors as well. We offer programs for youth, young adults, families, and seniors We try to ensure that there is something for everyone.
Initially an Orthodox synagogue, Congregation B’nai Israel has been a member of the United Synagogues of Conservative Judaism for the past 70 years and we pride ourselves on being an Egalitarian community.
We have about 140 family members and have had many innovative programs for all ages.
Our strictly kosher kitchen facilities provide bi-weekly Kiddush refreshments, monthly birthday and anniversary luncheons, and are also available to members for their private simchas.
Our buildings are wheelchair accessible.
Those who keep kosher in their homes are able to purchase Kosher meat near by markets in Hamilton, Buffalo, and Toronto and arrangements have been made for the delivery of these items from time to time for pick up at the synagogue. A fine selection of Kosher wine is also available at a local LCBO store.
