Facilities Rental

Congregation B’nai Israel is located near the heart of downtown St. Catharines. The Synagogue’s sanctuary was recently honoured with an Historic Building designation by the City of St. Catharines and in June 2025 celebrated the 100th anniversary of its opening. In addition to our historic sanctuary, CBI has a community centre that includes a 1,350 square foot auditorium and several meeting rooms available for rent that are suitable for corporate, social, and charitable events. Our spaces are available to all denominations.

The Synagogue Sanctuary

Our recently renovated sanctuary is perfectly suited for your religious simchas. With seating for up to 325 people on two levels, the sanctuary has wonderful acoustics and features an historic ark, bimah and stained-glass windows.

The Auditorium

Our well-lit and air-conditioned auditorium is suitable for a wide variety of uses, including as a space for band/choir/dance rehearsals, weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, physical fitness classes; corporate/charitable organization meetings; speaker events; table games tournaments; and art exhibits. The auditorium’s dimensions are W: 32′ L: 42′ H: 20′ and includes a raised stage of W: 16’ and L: 21’. There is seating for 180 people at tables or for 300+ theatre style.

The Tomarin Room

Located beneath our sanctuary, this room is suitable for social events such as card parties/ book clubs and has a fully functioning kitchen attached. Room dimensions: W:32′ L: 42′.

The Herzog Room

One of our smaller meeting rooms, this room is located downstairs in our Community Centre and is suitable for meetings of up to 25 people. Room dimensions: W: 21’ L: 44′.

The Jack Miller Learning and Resource Centre

Another smaller meeting room located downstairs in our Community Centre. This room seats 6-8 people around a boardroom table and is suitable for smaller meetings such as board meetings or small workshops. The room comes equipped with a wall TV monitor and a whiteboard. Room dimensions: W: 13′ L: 19′ (opens to the library).

General Information

  • There is an accessibility elevator available to all floors
  • The auditorium contains a baby grand piano. A smaller electric piano is available for other spaces
  • AV equipment, screens and microphones are available
  • There are two kitchens available and large and small event meal service can be arranged by CBI
  • Coffee service is available
  • Testimonials from previous renters are available
  • Professional security services, arranged by CBI for a fee, are mandatory for all events
