Why Join B’nai Israel?

Membership at Congregation B’nai Israel makes an important statement of connection and commitment to the Jewish community of Niagara and around the world. Membership enables our congregants to enrich their Jewish lives not only through the warm embrace of communal prayer but also by offering a space to connect with people with shared interests. Our members share moments of both joy and sorrow within a sensitive and supportive community. Membership provides many opportunities to celebrate our traditions and helps ensure a bright Jewish future. We offer Full memberships to those living in the Niagara area and Associate memberships on a case-by-case basis to those who live outside the Niagara area.

Membership Privileges

  • CBI does its best to be available to our members seven days a week, 365 days a year. We are a community that provides prayer services, support and comfort in difficult times, and assistance and encouragement to help make the most of special life cycle events.
  • Membership includes tickets for the High Holidays, allowing access to all our varied services and programs offered on these days. Tickets for all dependent children under the age of 18 are included.
  • Members receive reduced rates on clergy services, programs fees and facilities rentals, as well as on burial plots at our cemetery.
  • Membership provides a meaningful home for everyone to learn and grow as Jews.

Fair Share

We understand that every family has a different capacity to give, so CBI employs a membership contribution schedule which consists of a series of graduated levels. This “fair share” system means each family makes an annual contribution for membership, including amounts for security and our building, based on each family’s ability to contribute. This type of flexible fee structure allows us to offer the benefits of membership to a wider circle of congregants in the Niagara area and beyond.
