Our Hebrew school aims to foster a strong Jewish identity, love of Judaism, and pride in our heritage. Our curriculum exposes students to Hebrew language, holidays and traditions, Israeli history and culture, and helps to prepare our children for active participation in Jewish life. Children are an important part of our community and are always welcome at both Shabbat and holiday services.
In recent years, we have had classes ranging from preschool to Grade 8 meeting once a week, as well as Bar and Bat Mitzvah classes. Students also take part in a variety of special holiday programs at the synagogue including sukkah decoration and hamantaschen baking.
All classes in our Hebrew School are taught by the Rabbi.
Beyond bar/bat mitzvah, there are a variety of USY (i.e. the Conservative movement’s youth group) and RJCO programs available that are led by youth volunteers from the community. Both organizations give students a chance to meet other Jewish teens from across Ontario and North America and advance their Jewish learning and culture. For more information about these organizations, please visit their websites: ECRUSY (Eastern Canadian Region of United Synagogue Youth) and RJCO (Regional Jewish Communities of Ontario).
